Domain Names for Your Business Website

Is your business' domain name as unique and memorable as your business? Moreover, is that business domain name still free? The world of e-commerce will continue to expand and domain names begin to sound less like the corporations they represent as businesses scramble to pick up memorable, easy-to-use, and most of all relevant domains. Is your business' name taken as a domain? You can still choose a name that fulfills all of these needs. Ask yourself:
  • Is it memorable? A catchy business domain is better even if it is a little longer; people remember meaningful words, not unusual abbreviations and numbers. "Jane's Athletic Shoes" could be shortened to "JanesAthShus" but the spelling change makes it hard to remember.
  • If you do use an acronym, make sure it's the most logical for your business' domain name: "JAShoes" is better than "JanAthSho". Likewise "JAS" is too short and too generic to be a good business domain name.
  • Is it relevant? Is the name of your business still featured in the domain? "Jane's Athletic Shoes" could also be "JanesSportShoes" but the domain name no longer matches the business name - its confusing.
  • Is it easy to spell? Again the business domain name is better off as whole words instead of something that is too short.
